SYSPHERE CONSERVATION: was founded by the principal conservator Sy Sphere, an internationally renowned highly accomplished visionary multi-media, multi-discipline artist & designer. He specialized in Old Masters painting & conservation techniques at Mundelein College-Loyola University and The School of Art Institute of Chicago. 1960's Sy was trained & taught by his late father, a virtuoso artist conservator, professor and a Renaissance man. Then in the early 70's, Sy worked with seasoned professionals at major studios where he received hands-on training working with chemistry and retouching techniques. Later, in the early 80's, SYSPHERE established full-service Art and Design loft studios in River West Chicago. In 2002, he moved to San Francisco and established a studio in SOMA. Thus, over the years, achieved virtuosity and refinement in conservation practice, henceforth providing pristine treatments, extreme care, finest quality craftsmanship, and skills to restore damaged art from individual collectors, estates, galleries, and museums.

Recently, Sy Sphere was part of Andrew W. Mellon foundation collaborative symposium at the Harvard University faculty club in Cambridge, as well as salted paper photographic prints conservation workshop at Northeast Document Conservation Center Andover, MA.

Over the years Maestro has been a mentor and inspiration for students from prestigious institutions like The Art Institute of Chicago, and Ecole Conte, Paris, France, and others have asked maestro SYSPHERE for tutelage and training toward higher degree accreditations. Recently maestro was interviewed by the National Public Radio regarding an $82 million Andy Warhol painting, damaged at the San Francisco Modern Museum Of Art (SFMOMA).

Sy served on following boards of directors: Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Peace Museum Chicago, A.T.C Art Festival Chicago, and Opera Factory Chicago.

SYSPHERE is a current member of American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) Washington, DC. And he is a previous member of American Center for Design. (ACD) also American Institute of Graphic Design. (AIGA)

"Maestro SYSPHERE has been conserving and restoring fine art paintings across all schools of art and genres masterfully, paintings by artists from the pantheon of permanent collections of the great museums, such as Theodore Rousseau, Daubigny, Díaz, Richet, Troyon, Jules Dupré, Japy, Bonheur, Delpy, Damoye, Harpignies, Morisot, Warhol & Neiman just to name a few. He brought the life back to damaged paintings with his superb touch into immaculate condition. Sy is an excellent adviser and problem solver; he resorted numerous paintings beyond our expectations, I am fully satisfied with his work and have used his services over the years."

"Sy cleaned and touched up a large 48 x 55 inch, late 18th century, old master oil on canvas, retouched and in-painted in the style of Georges Le Toure for me. He did a wonderful job of minimizing both the compositional and aging flaws of the piece. He took a very marginal piece and restored it to a collector's gem."

Dr. K. Villard, Art Collector.

"When an antique oil painting was damaged in shipping, I was apprehensive about finding someone to fix it. After Sy explained the process of restoration, as well as showing me samples of work he had done, I was confident the damage could be fixed. I've got the painting back, and I can't tell where the chip originally was."

"My 70-year-old neighbor ( may she RIP) gave me a vintage nude painting from the late 1930’s 1940’s for my birthday because she knew that is the kind of art I collect. The painting had a hole smack dab in the center. It was my 60th birthday, and the repair of the painting was my present to myself. Sy beautifully restored the painting and I enjoy her every day. The best birthday present ever! Thank you, Sy!"

"We had the pleasure of working with Sy several years ago when he repaired and restored a painting that was severely damaged. This is a beautiful painting of a flamenco dancer by the Giralda that my daughter painted in Sevilla, Spain. The painting had been shipped to San Francisco. In passing through customs, it had been cut in several places with a box cutter, creating cuts of about 5-6 inches. Sy restored the painting perfectly. As an artist himself, his sensitivity to color is unparalleled. It is as good as the day it was painted. Thank you, Sy. You are a genius and a pleasure to work with. All the best for your business."
